If you want to find the three S’s of perfect holiday eating, make your way to Rosso Sul Mare. This stylish restaurant in La Caleta has them all – a sensational seafront setting, stylish surroundings and superb sustenance. Ok, we reached for that last one but you can’t spell food with an ‘S’. Funky and fashionable, its black and red interior reminds you of a high-class city eatery, with the efficient and well-groomed waiters to match.

The food is predominantly Italian. A range of salads are presented in swimming pool sized bowls, seafood ‘starters’ come piled high. We particularly like the Beef Carpaccio or the Cesar Salad starters though both would suffice as a main course. For the main event you have a choice of seafood medley, various forms of pasta (if you like it with a zing pick the spicy sausage) and plenty of pizzas.

Like most of the best family restaurants in Tenerife, kids are well looked after, despite the danger of demolishing expensive glassware, china and Romanesque statuettes. Colouring paper and crayons are provided, and when the novelty of re-designing the table cloths has worn off, a fenced play area sits directly in front of the terrace so you can eat in peace, the staff can serve without tripping over toddlers and the toddlers can escape the bore of social etiquette. It’s a win-win… er, win… situation.

You don’t have to order from the kitchen to enjoy Rosso Sul Mare – although we would strongly recommend that you do. It’s also become a popular venue for a sundown cocktail or chilled glass of wine, attracting trendy locals and in-the-know holidaymakers.

  my friends took me and my boyfriend to eat here two weeks ago ...to die for ...food fantastic ..service perfect...(and cute)..very nice decor....i'll be back ...and im telling all my friends it's "THE PLACE TO EAT" ,,,,BILLY PORTER X

  Best restaurant in Tenerife

  We took the kids three times to Rosso sul mare. What a brilliant place. The kids got to mess around in the play park and we got to eat brilliant pasta in peace. Perfect...!!!
